New Department Chair
Dr. Helen Zhang is the new Chair of the Statistics & Data Science Graduate Interdisciplinary Program.
Hao Helen Zhang is Professor of Mathematics at the University of Arizona. Her research areas include statistical machine learning, high-dimensional data analysis, nonparametric smoothing, and biomedical data analyses. She has published more than 90 research articles and one book "Principles and Theory for Data Mining and Machine Learning". Her research has been funded by NSF, NIH, NSA, including the NSF CAREER award and the leading PI of the NSF TRIPODS project. Dr. Zhang is currently the Editor-in-chief of the journal STAT and Associate Editor of the Journal of the American Statistical Association and Journal of Royal Statistical Society. She is Fellow of ASA, Fellow of IMS, and the 2019 IMS Medallion Lecturer. She is also a UA College of Science Galileo Circle Fellow.
